Socrates once said, "As for me, I know nothing", indicating that a posture of humility is necessary for great learning.

Well, I grew up with English and Chinese and my wife grew up learning English and Japanese.

And between the two of us, (mostly her), we have enough Spanish to travel through Hispanophone regions.

1. Hello - Ni Hao (prounced exactly like the words Knee and How)

2. Thank you - Xie Xie
 (xie can be prounouced by saying the letters "C" and "A" together very quickly

3. Add more rice to my plate please - Jia Fan
(prounced like the letters "G" and "R" said together very quickly, and fan is prounced like the word "Fun")

4. Where is the bathroom - Cheh Suo Zai Na Li

5. Where is the hotel - Jiu Dian Zai Na Li

6. Pretty Girl - Mei Nv (Mei is prounced like Maid without the d, NV is pronouced as Nn-ooo-E

7, Handsome - Shuai ge (shuai is pronounced shoe-ai, and ge is pronouced similar to girl with no rl sound)

8. What is your name? - ni shi ?

9. my name is < > - wo shi  < >

10. i need a translator - wo yao fan yi zhe

11. friend - pen you (prounced like the word 'burn', and yo as in 'yo-yo'
